Riverside Church

Ever since I’ve moved to New York I have been shocked at the scale of this church! Supposedly this church has had some really interesting people speak from its pulpit. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke here against the Vietnam War. Nelson Mandela spoke here when he was released from prison and Fidel Castro Spoke here in 2000.

Riverside Church is situated between Columbia University, West Harlem, Manhattanville and Riverside Park. It is the tallest church in the United States. This building was started in 1927.

I made this sumi ink drawing of the very top tower to focus on the highly decorative quality of the building.  To really do this building justice I’ll have to buy larger paper!
